Exclusion of the Public and Press

Minutes:

The Committee agreed to exclude the public and press from the meeting during consideration of agenda item 5 ‘Interviews for position of interim Chief Executive’ by reference to the descriptions in Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972, due to information relating to an individual.

To approve as a correct record the minutes of the General Services Committee Meeting held on 9 March 2015.

Minutes:

The exempt minutes of the General Services Committee held on 9 March 2015 were approved as a correct record.

Interviews for Position of Interim Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service

Minutes:

The Committee interviewed two internal candidates for the position of Interim Chief Executive.

 

The Committee discussed the questions to ask each candidate and noted that the interim appointment was only open to internal candidates who would not be seeking the permanent position of Chief Executive. This prevented any unfair advantage of a candidate gaining experience over and above other potential candidates who applied for the permanent position at a future date.

 

The Committee also noted that the interim appointment had no maximum tenure and could possibly be in position for a number of months depending on the outcome of the permanent chief executive interviews.

 

Graham Farrant and Matthew Boulter left the meeting at this juncture.

 

RESOLVED:

 

That Mr David Bull is appointed as Interim Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service.
